AMMONIA: PHENATE Berthelot metod
Range: 0 – 1 mg/L ( N-NH3)

PRINCIPLE

The automated procedure for the determination of Ammonia utilizes the Berthelot reaction, in which the formation of a blue colored compound ( indophenol) occurs when l’ammonia reacts with sodium phenate followed by the reaction with sodium hypochlorite. Optimal PH range is 10.2-10.6

Sodium citrate is added to eliminate the precipitation of the hydroxide of calcium and magnesium

The colored compound is measured at 660 nm
